This friendly course is for beginners aged 8 to 88 across Newport who are ready to learn chess from the very start. Why not learn as a family?

We are officially looking for beginners to play chess and join our brand-new Beginners' Chess Course. Anyone living in Newport and the surrounding areas is welcome to join us.

This course is organised primarily by Malpas Chess Club in cooperation with Newport Chess Club, and taught face-to-face by expert players from both clubs. The lessons are fun, clear, and designed for beginners of all ages with no previous chess experience. Why not learn chess together as a family?

The course itself is held at The Riverfront Theatre in Newport, while the two clubs are based locally in Malpas and Newport respectively, so families can see which club is closest to them.

Limited Availability: There are only 20 spaces available (14 currently available).
Important Safety Rule: Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian for the duration of the lessons. Parents and guardians are advised that all tutors are DBS checked.
